This page explains how Candela handles your data. We collect as little as we can to run the product, and we will tell you when that changes.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive your name, email address, and a stable account identifier from the provider. A GitHub sign-in also grants a public_repo token so the Export step can create a public repository on your behalf, and we do not read your private repositories.
When you build a project inside Candela we store the brief, milestones, files, reasoning entries, and the conversation with the tutor. We hold this content because the product needs it to render your work back to you and to anyone you choose to share it with.
We collect basic usage analytics including page views, route timings, and web vitals. There are no third-party advertising trackers anywhere in the product.
How we use it
We use this data to operate the product. The tutor reads your project files and chat history so it can ask the next question, the reading view renders your reasoning log and code snapshots for recruiters you have chosen to share with, and the analytics help us spot pages that load slowly.
We do not sell your data, train external models on it, or use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Candela runs on a small set of subprocessors, and your data passes through them during normal operation.
- Supabase handles authentication, session management, and the Postgres database your project lives in.
- Anthropic provides the Claude model that powers the tutor. Your conversation, code, and reasoning are sent to the Anthropic API for inference. Anthropic does not train on API traffic by default.
- Vercel provides hosting, the edge network, blob storage for file snapshots, and the analytics measurements above.
- GitHub only receives data when you use the Export feature to push a public repository.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, export, or delete the data we hold about you. Email aryan@candela-ed.com and we'll get back within seven days. If you're in the UK or EU, UK GDPR / GDPR rights apply.
Cookies
Candela sets three small cookies. A short-lived session cookie keeps you signed in, a preference cookie remembers your light or dark theme choice, and an anonymous viewer-session cookie deduplicates project view counts so a single reader looking at the same page twice in a day only counts once. None of these cookies are used for advertising.
Changes
When this notice changes in a way that affects you we will update the date at the top of the page, and if the change is material we will surface it inside the product before it takes effect.
